For more than a decade, the Alfond Grant has invested $500 to babies born a Maine resident to support a bright future. We’re so proud to say that over 140,000 children have received the Grant, and want to thank all of our partners and families who have made this such a great success.

Does your child have the $500 Alfond Grant?
The Alfond Grant became available starting in 2008. Since 2013, all babies born as Maine residents automatically are awarded the Grant, with $500 towards their future college or training expenses from the Alfond Scholarship Foundation.

1 The Alfond Grant is not automatic in all circumstances and is also available in limited other circumstances. The use of the Alfond Grant is also subject to certain restrictions—see Alfond Grant Guidelines.
2 As of 12/31/22. Hospital champions have a contact card return rate over 50% and share information about the Alfond Grant with families.
3 As of 12/31/22. Business partner champions share information with employees about the Alfond Grant and facilitate employee contributions to a college savings account through payroll deduction.
